The state was still highly interventionist in the economy and expanded welfare again during the mid 80s. In 1982 Chile's private banks collapsed and the government took on their role which gave them de-facto control of all of Chile's industry.
Anyway it was an interesting read and I'm glad you interviewed Nevin, Zolt. I've read 3 of his books so far and am currently reading a 4th.
